Bev-E Award Winners 2007

The BEV-E Award Ceremony 2007 was held at the industry dinner at BEV-X on 16th October hosted by Paul Miekle-Janney and Ranald Paterson.  All finalists were invited to a pre-dinner reception where celebration glasses of champagne got the evening off to a good start.

All of the regional winners were introduced with a short presentation on their business and they were then presented with their Award for winning their region, an inscribed plate produced by Simon Martin of Quickfire Tableware, the originator of the BEV-E Awards idea.

A new Award for Best Mobile Coffee Cart was then awarded to Ian Holmes of Café 2 U in Leeds.  His franchisor, Alex Dawson, also present, had had several franchises entered into the competition, was naturally delighted.

The award for BEV-E Winner 2007 was then announced by Ranald who had carried out the last round of Regional and Final judging.  In announcing that for the first time there was a joint winner, he said that The Bottle Kiln and Sadliers Coffee Lounge were so close in scores, even though their businesses are fundamentally different, they couldn’t be separated and therefore they were both declared winners.  Maxine Sadlier accepted the award on behalf of Sadliers, and Maxine Beadsmore and Joy Bostock accepted on behalf of The Bottle Kiln.

Sadliers Coffee Lounge, owned and run by Maxine Sadlier, is a small coffee shop in Tettenshall, Wolverhampton and has been open for just two years.  All of their food is home made and all coffees are hand-crafted by Paul Sadlier.

The Bottle Kiln, a family business run by Becky Stone, has been open for 20 years, and includes the café, an art gallery, Japanese garden and gift shops all built around the old bottle kiln.

Both of these establishments are well worth a visit for anyone either in Wolverhampton or Derbyshire.

Past winners of the BEV-E Award are Leoni The Coffee House in Malton, Lakeside Café in Leeds and The Coach House in Skipton, which means that including Café 4 U, Yorkshire has a winner in every year of the awards!
